2000 Johnson 115 tachometer not working after replacing starter

I have just replaced the starter on my 2000 Johnson 115 and now when I start it, my Tach is not working. The 4 lights in the guage light up in the starting sequence but no tach. I was also working on my remote shifter at the same time, but don't think it has anything to do with it. Is there any wires in solenoid or starter that may have caused this when I changed the starter? Thanks

No wires on the starter or solenoid that affect the tach but there are in the shifter. The tach obviously has power or the idiot lights wouldn't work. You mucked up the gray wire (sense) going to the tach.
