I have a Minn-Kota AP65 riptide and sometimes when I use the autopilot function the steering motor runs in one direction continuously. Has anyone had this problem with theirs?

With the motor in the water, the shaft has to be within 5 deg of vertical. Also I have heard that Minn Kota was replacing the circuit boards on some of the auto pilot series for this problem. Usually its just because the shaft isn't straight enough.

I have the RT 74# with autopilot and had the same problem last year. Almost knocked me off the front of my boat the first time it happened.

Anyhow I brought it back to the dealer and they fixed it at no charge. As the other poster indicated this is indeed a problem they know about. The circuit boards they are replacing them with are sealed whereas the originals were not.

No problems since it was repaired.
