I am doing research on a river where I currently have a program on my boat that records gps position and depth every few seconds. I need to collect data in the shallow regions where I cant get in via boat and I would like to equip an RC model boat with lightweight and wireless gps and depth capabilities. Cost is a concern due to funding and the range of the wireless needs to be close to the range of the RC boat. Any ideas/recommendations are welcome. Thanks

What are we talking about when you say shallow? also what distances from your boat are you needing to cover when you say range. Hummingbird has a wirless fishfinder that is pretty cheap that claims a 100 foot range but tat dosent cover the gps cordinates.

shallow would be <2 ft and the range, 100-150 ft would probably be far enough

You should be able to run in 7-8 inches of water with a 12' flat bottom jon boat and an electric trolling motor.
