I'm looking to get a new minn kota 80lb. The problem is I'm not sure if I should go with just the i-pilot or the i-pilot link. What is the difference? I know the link will talk to a hummingbird finder, but I don't have one and not sure if I'm going to buy one any time soon or ever. Does the link remote have the ability to load a lake map SD card into it?

They are the same, the link is the connection between the motor and the FF. Just get the I-pilot and add the Link later if you want it.

No, the Link remote is just a remote, the SD card goes in the FF.

I forgot to say, I don't regret spending the money for the Terrova I-pilot, it works very well for how I use it. I use the Magnetic compass for following a course more often than using the GPS option. So for what I do the co-pilot version would have worked almost as well, but you give up others features going that route and I wanted all of them.

So if I installed the I-Pilot on my PDV2 5-6 years ago, I don't need a new head to update it to the I-Pilot Link?
