Minn kota trolling motor HELP

I let someone borrow my boat and the connected the two trolling batteries with a test lead :facepalm: to try to charge both batteries at the same time and it melted one of the batteries and the plug on the front and some wires connected to the plug were melted. Is my wiring shot or could it just be the trolling motor.

That is really hard to say without some quality pictures of what you are seeing and dealing with. Take some pictures of everything and post them here for everybody to make comments and/or suggestions...
