I just got a boat that has a switch panel on the back. It has 3 rocker switches (just two positions...on and off), but it has three prongs on the back.

The middle prong on all three switches are piggy backed with a blue wire...Does this just supply the led with power? And does this led on light up when the switch is "on" and should I use the other two prongs for negative and positive wire for whatever I am trying to switch on and off?

thanks

Re: wire on/off switches with that are led lighted

Lighted switch normally have a Supply, Load, and Ground Terminal.
12v is connected to the SUPPLY.
The Device you want switched connects to the LOAD.
The GROUND supplies the Lamp with a return path.

Your blue wire could be a common 12 supply to the switches.
Or it could be a common ground.
The Blue color does not help much.
Measure the voltage on the Blue wire or trace it to its source.

Look very closely at the case of the switch.
It may have markings near the terminals. S,L,G?
