Garmin transducer placesment

Quick Question, I just got a used garmin fishfinder from eBay, it came with a thru the hull transducer. Not knowing to much about transducers, can I mount the thru the hull transducer to my trolling motor or do I have to buy a another type. Will it work on my trolling,
