Used bluetop optima. buy or no buy?

I found a $30 used blue top optima on craigslist. battery is dead has sat in garage for 3 years since he sold his boat.

chances this battery is both savable and usable or just walk away?

I bought a "duracell" it's expensive but the saleman told me that optima is no good anymore.....their not made in co anymore but mexico.
Duracell is supposed to be better than optima.

oh really. are the duracell gels or wets? what kind of prices are you seeing for them?

Now that I think of it I have seen stuff on the druamax forum complaining that the quality of Optima has gone down.

Optima batteries are like Bose sound systems, they have really good marketing, and lots of fanboys.

Odyssey is the way to go with AGM. Buy the Sear Diehard Platinum version which is a re-badged Odyssey but way cheaper.
