Depends on what your wanting it for; to see a 1/4 mile ahead or wide spread light for navagation at night.

none. you really shouldn't use a spot light of any sort while on the water, except for very brief periods when scouting for debris and/or rounding a blind bend in a river. They are not to be used for general navigation purposes. To use them any other way is dangerous for you and everyone else on the water, but it is a great way to get a nice hefty ticket from your local wildlife officer ;)

Spotting debris when trolling and docking.

If you want to spend the money I would suggest this
Streamlight? Waypoint? Lithium-Ion Rechargeable Spotlight : Cabela's

A bit less and has three settings would be something like this
Streamlight? WayPoint? Spotlight : Cabela's

The same item just diffeent batteries. Could always buy rechargable batteries and spend less.

Or if you want to fix mount on the front like docking lights (I have built in dock lights and remote spot) could try this way.
LED Docking Light : Attwood Marine

Here's my favorite:

Coleman CPX 6

I use it with the CPX cartridge using 4 D-cells. 50 hours runtime with one set of batteries, 275 lumens, gives a very nice spot about 1/4 mile out. $35.00 approximately. I love it.
