teleflex gauges

Hi all my boat is almost finished now the electrics are done
all accept the gauges . What I have are two teleflex
RPM black face and a VOLT again black face I've not
Yet wired these so l can't say if they even work .
I was thinking of buying a new set as I've no Temp
gauge lve been told that l can't just buy just any dials
as they are percific to a make of engine ?? lm not sure
would any of you guys help the engine is a .......
1980 Johnson 85 V4 there are two temp senders already
fitted

The temperature senders in the heads won't operate a gauge. They are an on-off switch type unit. As for the tach & volts gauge, I don't know why they shouldn't work. Somebody know something I don't?

you can buy any tach that has "selectable pulse" and volts are volts so any gauge will work. You can install a temp gauge but you will have to buy a screw in sensor that fits a spare hole in the head (the hole is blanked off which is fine as you just add a little temp transfer paste then install the sensor) or make a bracket to hold the sensor to the head. some motors have a wire In the harness you can use and others you will have to add a wire from the gauge to the senor.
