I have a 1989 Larson Lazer and the fuel gauge reads empty when the tank is still half full. I pulled the sender today and it has a cork float on an aluminum arm. It appears that the arm is the wrong length. Does anyone know of a replacement unit that will work?

And replace the cork while it apart.

Length of the arm is not the problem. Sender depth and a soaked float may be.

I did some internet surfing and found a "reed valve" sender made by Moeller Marine. Its essentially a tube with a collar float that rides vertically on the tube. Got it installed earlier this week and so far so good.
