Aqua Meter Tachometer inop

Hi, I have an old Aqua Meter tach I bought last year new yet without the box or paperwork. It is model #250. It is adjustable between 1 and 6 pulses.

It has a grey pulse wire and black ground wire. The pulse wire is connected to the cut out switch mounting screw. Black is grounded.

The tach does not work.

Double checking to see if it is the tach that is faulty.

Special thanks to tallcanadian for supplying paperwork on the tachometer. I do have it wired correctly.

I have the same tach as shown in your post. The two wires (black and gray) were disconnected when I purchased the 1969 boat. Can you confirm where these wires are to be connected.

If will will make any difference, my boat is a 69 Vance (Donzi knockoff) runabout. It has a 289 Ford motor and a Volvo Penta outdrive.

I did have the tachometer wired correctly the whole time. It has taken this long to find another NOS Aqua-Meter tach, and a practice one to make sure. With no spark plugs in the engine the starter spins the outboard around at 700 r.p.m.'s..... Decent...
