Motorguide 767 only running on hi bypass

I have a motorguide Tour Edition 767 that is only running on the hi bypass setting. After talking to a repair shop, I was told that it was more than likely the MOSFET assembly (motorguide part #JF096-08 in the lower unit and that the only "fix" for this was to change the motor over to a digital motor for approximately $300 if I do the change myself. Is there a way that this MOSFET can be repaired/rebuilt in order to save the $300 in conversion costs?
