I just got a used RC530 chartplotter with a Raystar 120 GPS antenna. I'm trying to figure out the wiring. I found all the related manuals on-line. I am missing the W144 power cable (7 leads: +,-, shield, and 4 NMEA). I can buy this on line for about $60. I also have a few 3 prong SeaTalk cables.

My question is, do I wire the GPS antenna (Raystar120) to a junction box then SeaTalk cable to the 3 prong SeaTalk connection at the back of the RC530 chartplotter? Or, can I wire the Raystar 120 directly to one of the NMEA leads on the W144 power cable?

Are both methods acceptable?
