I am in the process of changing out the factory head unit in my silverado truck and ran into the fact that because its a Bose premium unit it is very integrated into several systems like the door chime, on star, the anti theft systems and even the air bag system. Being way out of date on such things I consulted with a local stereo shop and was advised to order a special harness that would keep all of the other effected systems in order and allow any head unit to be hooked up.

The new harness should be in tomorrow just wondering how hard its going to be to hook up. My present plan is to look it over and if it looks complicated I will have the shop do it.

Re: Bose stereo

On the vehicle end, it should plug right in. You'll have to make crimp or solder connections to the new head unit's harness, unless the special harness is made for your specific new head unit.

Re: Bose stereo

It wasn't bad at all, and it was mostly plug and play. 4 connections and 2 RCA jacks and 2 sound level adjustments
