I am just about coming to the end of a full resto on my 87 SR 180 and last week the engine, etc was re-installed. When I bought the boat, the motor was a non-runner so wasn't able to check anything out. With the replacement engine now in place, the thing runs good, but the boatshop guy told me the oil pressure was the only gauge not working and as the needle was lying flat against the Max end of the scale he reckoned the gauge was 'dead' as he put it. Before I pay out for a SR replacement gauge, can anyone advise if it is dead or just unconscious?

the gauge looks like the needle has jammed past the stop pin. if the needle is caught and you are bored you can pull the gauge then remove the bulb and using a thin wire with a bend in it you can try to hook the needle back over the pin or slap the gauge face down with out breaking the glass to try to get the needle back over the pin.
