I have looked to no avail on this forum as to where the best location for the 60 amp circuit breaker for my MinnKota 55 Edge should be placed. Any help with this would be appreciated...........I.E. By the battery in the stern or by the bow up by the motor?

Re: Circuit Breaker

Hi, zoniezz.

Welcome to iboats. :)

I always mounted that breaker in the same box with the battery, gaining protection from shorts between the battery and the troller.

Re: Circuit Breaker

It should be as close to the battery as possible, on the positive side. Use as heavy cable as possible. A short battery cable from any auto supply store will work well. Most of those cables with eyes on both ends will be black, so mark it with some red paint to avoid confusion later.

The point of a circuit breaker is to protect the wiring from burning should a short circuit occur. The closer to the battery, the better you are protected.
