Hey all, my Guest Battery 2 bank 8 amp charger seems to me to be hot. The cord is not. How hot do these things get. Should I not be using it? thanks for any help. Sean

Re: Guest Battery Charger hot?

If a battery is deeply discharged, the charger works at near full capacity (8 amps in your case) so yes -- the case will get warm. There is a difference between "warm" and "hot". Hot is when you get uncomfortable quickly when you place your hand on the case. Warm is just that. It is warm but not uncomfortable to hold your hand on it. If the charger is installed in one of the compartments, the lid should be left open to vent any gases from the battery as well as to provide airflow for the charger. Never use the charger with the lid closed.

Re: Guest Battery Charger hot?

I can hold my hand against the charger without feeling burned but wouldn't want to hold it in my hand for any length of time. Charger is up under the console with decent air flow and I keep the battery compartment open during charging which is at the back of the boat. thanks, Sean
