I've got a 260HP / Alpha One outdrive combination and installed a used Faria gauge package some time ago. Long story short, my tach trys to register RPM up to 1000 and gets stuck. I am sure the wiring is correct. Can the Faria tach be opened up to do a visual of the internals? Thanks in advance.

Re: Faria tachometer question...

Same problem with mine. I fixed it by turning engine setting dial on back. There is a little dial on the back of the tach that set the number of poles to match the engine it is being used on. It should have a little pointer on it, just note where the pointer is and then turn it left and right several times and then back to it's origional location.

Just wanted to add that Faria has excellent customer service and might even replace your's if it is defective. Just say you're the original owner of said tach.

Nope. Limited warranty. $57.00 will get it fixed. Just went through this with them. If you send it back make sure you talk to them first because you will need an RA number so they can track you gauge.

Thanks "Thalasso" for the info on limited warranty, I wasn't sure if they fixed or replaced. Years ago I had one replaced and just paid shipping costs.

Not a fan of Faria tach's. I'm on my 3rd one in as many years, all replaced under original boat warranty. Now I have to replace this one again. The tach's seem to jump around and give erradic readings. tap on the gage face and all is ok
for a while. And no, tach is not over tightened in the panel. Going to replace with an aftermarket automotive tach.
