Sony CDX GT-240

The previous owner installed a Sony CDX GT-240 stereo. I have read several reviews on this unit and they are all positive so I can't help but wonder why our unit sounds like something from the 60's. I'm guessing it's the speakers as they look like the same Panasonic ones I had in my AMC Gremlin.

Can anyone suggest a decent set of speakers that would match up to this unit.

Me personally I'm an Alpine and Rockford Fosgate fanatic. Depending on what size you currently have you have a lot of options with either brand and you could always add a small amp to your setup and make a HUGE difference in the sound of your boat. By the way what size do you have and how many sets are there in your boat?

I have four speakers total. Two in the cabin and two in the cockpit. The boat is a 1990 and I believe the speakers are the originals.
