Bilge pump will not shut off when float switch wire is attached.

Is this possible due to a blown fuse, or is it most likely that the float switch is stuck.

Float is stuck in the on position. You should have a test knob on it, see if you can rotate it to the down, or off position. If the switch internals are such that whatever position, the pump runs, time for a new switch. Probably time for a new one anyway...;)

A blown fuse would prevent the pump from operating. A stuck switch could be the culprit. Isolate it from the circuit and test for continuity. It should show infinite resistance when in the "down" position.

Make sure there is nothing in the bilge that can jam the float in the "up" position.
