Mercruiser trim switch mod?

I have the 3 button trim switch and I picked up an entire faria gauge set including a switch panel. The switch for the trim on the panel is a three pole up and down switch that operated an outboard trim. I was wondering if there was a way to wire it to work by pushing it up and down as opposed to having to press 2 buttons at a time as on the 3 button switch. Thanks for any help.

So by bypassing do you mean just disconnect the two wires from the trim limit switch and tape off the purple then attach the red green and blue to the new switch? Thats what Im getting from it. Is there anything I need to worry about if the trim limit is disengaged?
