Just curious if anyone has a Tracker with the Versatrack gunnel (basically there is no flat, wide gunnel) and has an 8 foot VHF antenna mounted somewhere?

I know I could probably mount it in the rear but I don't want to. I was thinking of mounting it near the passenger side but there's really no gunnel.

There is a part of the side wall that juts out enough that the antenna mount could fit (I think, boat's in storage).

The only other thing is that I could get creative and make my own versatrack thing to create a kind of mount for it.

Anyway, just wanted to see if anyone else has an antenna mounted on a tracker like this.

Mine is a 2010 Proguide V175 WT.

My first guess would be to mount it vertically on the inside of the transom, so it will drop down inside for towing. I'm not sure if I would want an 8' antenna for a boat like that. I think the fishies are going to try to wrap your line around it. Is a handheld vhf out of the question?
