12 volt or 14 volt navigation light...or a better 12 volt?

Hello everyone,

My white nav light burnt out so I replaced it with a 12 volt ancor wedge bulb but the bulbs keep burning out. I'm wondering if I should have used a 14 volt instead or a better 12 volt bulb like perko which costs 4 times as much as ancor.

FYI...the red, green, and white lights are all on the same circuit butjust the white one keeps blowing. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Vibration issue?? A 12 volt bulb should handle 12 - 15 volts no problem. Did you measure the charging system voltage with engine running at 2000 rpm? And are you sure the bulb is bad and not the socket or wiring. Check the bulb with an ohm meter or your battery charger.

Thanks Silvertip,

The charging system voltage is running about 14. I will look into the other issues particularly the vibration one. We've been running in some heavy chop the last couple of days so I'll check to see if I'm fully seating the bulbs...
