Raymarine C80 with DSM 300 not displaying depth

Hi Guys. First post so please be gentle. As the subject says, I have a Raymarine C80 with a DSM300 (depth sounder module) and have recently been having problems with depth not being displayed or in some cases incorrect depth being displayed (for example 25 feet at my slip when at high tide it is only 14 feet). I don't get any error messages just "-.-" on the screen. I haven't checked for loose connections yet. I will when I get down to the boat again but what else could it be? Are there any simple tests?

Do you have the gain on auto. If so that's the first problem. My C120 radar was WWWAAAYYY off on auto.

yeah, I think I do. Would that stop it from reading depth?
