Please take a look at the enclosed picture and tell me which contact it should be set on for my 8 cylinder engine. I am having a difficult time with the readings on this new gauge. Top or bottom?

Thanks in advance!

Look at the documentation that came with the tachometer, try the home page from the manufacturer.

Faria tachs are set to read at pulses per cylinder. An 8 cylinder 4-cycle engine should be set on (can't remember which) either 3P or 4P. Try one setting, if it reads 200 RPM or1200 RPM at an idle, switch it to the other.

According to the link, the correct tachometer will have a label showing correct position.
Contact the manufacturer.

I have a new Tach in the package I purchased for the built in hr meter. It shows that you put the selector in position 3 for 8 cyl engines.

Hope this helps

Re: Which Tach setting for Faria Gauge

ok just intalled this 2 months ago diffent set i went with faria boxter,
1 is for outboards
2 is for 4 cyl
3 is for 6 cyl
4 is for 8 cyl
there are a few more on mine which i think go to desiels

not sure if i am correct this is just the way mine was explained and i believe your on setting 3 as your numbers/letters on mother board are all upside down. if its upside down as i suspect turn it to number 4 and try it if its on number 2 then i would turn it to 3 and check

You could be correct since mine only has 123 for settings not 1234. The sticker is on back side of mine also not the side as some mention.
