Old Interphase GPS & Sonar

Recent boat purchase came with Interphase Pilot GPS and Echo 620 sonar, currently functional according to PO, know him and trust him. Download of manuals indicates they are circa 1993. Newbie to boating here, I'm wondering if anyone can advise and are they worth depending on?
Don't know if one can download charts onto these or are they too old for that?
