I went from a LCX16C to a Furuno 582L which was day and night. I then went to the 585 when it came out.
The biggest difference you?ll find is how the units behaves in Auto mode. The Lawrance works well I auto mode. The Furuno works well, but not to its potential. Once you learn how to dial in the Furuno, there is no better recreational sounder on the market. Install a 1kW transducer on the 585 and don?t look back.
