I would like to get some sort of crossover device that works as a GPS in the car or boat with a decent size screen - water proof

I just read another thread about Garmin Nuvi 500 550 etc, but googling tells me there is only limited shoreline info for the lakes I boat in. (Kawartha Lakes)

I found someone saying Navionics has detailed depth maps of these lakes.
That's what I want - something that shows me where I am and shows depths

What is navionics?... what sort of device displays it?

We just started out I've been using my iphone with the navionics map app.
Works great, tracks your location/path, though your iphone is not waterproof, mine is always behind the windshield and never get a drop on it.

My Lowrance XOG, also a crossover GPS, uses Navionics inland charts on an SD card.
