I need to install a new temperature gauge on my Glastron SSV-187. It looks like a standard 2" gauge.

So what's the problem? You remove the old one and install the new one.

That was an informative response guy! Thanks!

Well, I looked and the gauge I was thinking of is actually the trim indicator.

I also read on-line that outboards do not use water temp (makes sense now) they use cylinder head temp. So, if I want a temp gauge I will need to figure out where to put it and then run an indicator from a "boss" on my highest cylinder head.

Sorry, but responces are directly related to the info provided....

I'd drop the Temp gauge idea,+ go with a Water Pressure gauge for an Outboard...

The trim gauge may not be working because the sender is misadjusted or defective, or the wiring is bad. Diagnose first -- then replace whats broken.

Outboards can use either a water temp or a cylinder head temp gauge. The senders are the same. Only the method of mounting is different.

Here is a cylinder head temp sender. It merely bolts to the cylinder head with a head bolt.

The best combination for an outboard is BOTH a WP gauge and an engine TEMP gauge. The WP gauge tells you the pump is working. The TEMP gauge tells you what the engine temp really is. The WP gauge cannot tell you that.

Now then -- is that informative enough for you!
