Where to mount GPS antenna?

Got the antenna for my Garmin today, any rules on where NOT to put it?

Obviously it needs a clear view of the sky, I plan to put it on the starboard rear of the boat but that is where all my other wires run?

Will that mess with it or not?

It is also well clear of my radio antenna, my hand held played hell with reception of the radio.

Never mind, I got , ran everything I could think of and nothing bothered it or the radio so I am good.

I was getting 5 sats inside my brick garage.

That is the absolute coolest thing ever, I went from a Magellan 325(7 years old) hand held and an Eagle trifinder(5 years old) to a color GPS/sounder, a Garmin 178c sounder to be precise.
