Evinrue Scout Trolling motor

Hi All,
I have what I think is a 1983 evinrude Scout trolling motor, it has a 39" Shaft. It has a 12/24 switch..
I was wondering if anybody knows how to hook up for 24 volt operation. I would assume the Positive of battery 1 to the negative of Battery 2 jumper..

The trolling motor has 3 leads, a black white and red wire.

I would assume
Red goes to positive of battery 2
Black goes to negative of Battery 1
White to Positive of battery 1??

Not sure what to do with the white wire??
Any ideas, thanks

Assuming red is the 24V lead and white is the 12V lead from the T/M (which appears to be the case from the diagram above), you'd do it just like you described, plus a jumper wire from batt2(-) to batt1(+).

If you won't be using the 12V setting, you could just tape up the end of the white wire.
