Rewire bilge pump

My current bilge pump setup includes a manual switch at the dash, a separate float switch, and a pump. Is there wisdom in maintaining this arrangement or is it better to switch to a pump with an internal float switch. If I switch to an internal float switch arrangement, how do I rewire the now 4 wires ( 2 to the pump, 2 to the float switch)?

Keep what you got is my advice. those internal float pumps (if it is what is called and automatic pump) are not battery friendly.

Also with external float, you can easily test it by raising the float to make sure it still works.
