aq131D coil upgrade.

Hey there guys brand new to the forums so I hope I am posting in the correct spot. I have 1988 invader with a volvo aq131d and a 275a penta outdrive. I was wondering without going to electronic ignition what would be a good coil upgrade that has hotter spark(more volts) over the stock coil. I would like to go with a flame_thrower pertronix but not sure which one to get. Thanks for all the help and happy boating!

Putting a higher voltage coil on will not change a thing. The coil voltage output will only be the voltage at which the spark jumps the spark plug gap. Unless you change the spark plug gap, the voltage will remain exactly the same no matter what voltage coil you get.
