Trolling motor shaft length for 2001 Hurricane Fundeck

I have a 2001 Hurricane Fundeck with the fishing package. I want to mount a trolling motor to the bow. I measured around 25" from the tip of the bow to the waterline. Most shaft length guides suggest around a 50" shaft length. I bought a minn kota edge 65 thrust/45" shaft on sale. Will this work for me? Problem is, anything longer goes up substantially in price.

I just purchased a 2005 Hurricane 228 R and have the same question you do about the trolling motor. How did the 45" shaft work and the 65lb of thrust?
