Never owned one, but have used them and I'm not a fan. Made for a flat surface and can be mounted at an angle with different parts.

I like this kind because it can be adjusted to about any angle and simple to loosen and lay down. Can also be laid down just above the hull and locked for an easy transport without the antenna bouncing or rubbing against the hull. Plastic ones are cheaper but also work

Agree with AllDodge. I have used them and after awhile they get hard to slide.
the stainless ratchets are much better

When cheap and installed one on the am/fm antenna on the hardtop for a whole. Worked ok for a number of years but UV took its toll after 3-4 years.

Replaced with stainless lever locks to match the other antennas

The one-handed operation of the Lift n Lay is attractive, and the intention is to mount on the flat top of the console behind the windshield. But the nylon (I suppose) construction seems to be a limiting factor.

Anyone know of a stainless steel version of a lift n lay that won't break the bank?
