Is a Slight Bulge in Battery side normal?

No, it isnt.

The main reason that batteries swell is from over charging. If an alternator has a faulty voltage regulator, it will overcharge the battery and build up hydrogen gas faster than the battery can dissipate

And it should be handled w extreme caution. Failure may be unexpected and imminent..

Right before a battery 'explodes' it will bulge. I read this on the internet, so it must be true :)

While a bulge in the battery case isn't good, most plastic battery cases don't stay perfectly flat either. Need picture!

I've seen batteries get a bulge after they have been frozen while discharged.
