Hi brains trust.
I recently got a 1980's merc mariner 80hp 4 cylinder. when I got it home, all the wiring was shot. The guy had rotten insulation just taped over, more wires going retarded ways everywhere and it didn't fire up. Since I have replaced the stator and most of the wiring. I replaced the controls with a quicksilver commander 2000 and now when it starts it wont stop. I have wired everything up as per the wiring diagrams, the kill switch works the ignition works as expected but it wont turn off. I have tried to test the switch box but I cant find any values for resistance checks. I have consistent (minimum) readings on the multi of .566 meg ohms between the kill post and any other post on the block. I have tried bypassing the kill post but still nothing.
What can I do without changing the switch box?
