I have a Lowrance hds5 and a um415 vhf radio I want to connect both of them, but the nmea 0183 adapter keeps showing different brands of the finders and not the hds5. So just seeing if the 0183 adapter will still work or is there a different adapter that I don't know.

Not sure what adapter your talking about.

NMEA 0183 is a 2 conductor connection between the radio and the GPS. You typically connect the signal and grd from the GPS wire harness to the Signal and ground on the VHF wire harness.

The typical NMEA-0183 interface is provided on a loose fan-out of wires. The installer interconnects them. There is no specialized adaptor available for accomplishing this. Typically a small terminal strip is used as the wiring point.
