I was given a 2007 Bass Tracker when my step father passed away. Had the engine serviced, everything was updated or replaced. Took the boat out and the trolling motor is not working. Touched the plug in and it was hot a heck. Any ideas on if it is the motor itself or I need to replace the plug? Hate to buy a new motor if I don't need to.

And rather than spend a fortune on a new electric one, would you all help me on what you suggest for a regular trolling motor? THANK YOU.

Howdy

Where there is heat there in most cases is a bad connection or a short.
Is this a 12 or 24V trolling motor and how are the batteries wired?
