I have a 96 Evinrude 225. I removed the original key and starting system and replaced it with a push start button as you would see on cars. In doing so I had to disconnect the choke wire. So now I have no choke.

I would like to do is and this is my question. Can I connect the purple and white (primer) wire to a wire that is in use, such as the red and yellow (starter) wire? Or is there another wire I can use that the choke wire tap into?

Welcome to iboats!:welcome:

You don't want the choke to engage every time you hit the starter. The choke isn't needed when the motor is fully warnmed up, and would make starting hard or even impossible. You need to hook the choke circuit to another momentary contact switch so you can engage it only when needed.

I second NYBo's idea... Sounds like a nice push to use switch would be the answer... JMHO!
