Motor Will Not Cut Off

I turned the switch "off" on my 90 hp Yamaha motor and the motor keeps running. I had to disconnect the gas line to stop the motor. Is it a bad switch or can something else be causing this problem?

Out of curiosity does your kill switch "man overboard switch" kill the engine?

There should be a kill wire at both the ignition switch and the man overboard switch that gets grounded to stop the engine.

That wire is usually a black wire with a yellow stripe, It grounds the CDI and keeps it from firing the coils.

Might be white on Yamaha.
