Check it out. I got the templates made for the deck. It took about three hours, and was really hard at times coming up with the cuts. Now I have to transfer it over to the wood. It is so cool to see a deck in her again.

Take your time doing this, and it will save you money when you don't mess up the wood.

Well here we go, it is picture and video time. I am ready to put the deck in now, and I have coated the back of the deck with 1.5oz CSM and red guard for good measure. I now think the red guard was not needed, but it is just one more ounce of prevention.

I used 5/8" exterior grade ply for the deck. I just picked through the pile to get the best ones.

One thing I need to resolve is the seat mount. I know several people have made a small pedestal out of wood, glued it to the deck and then glassed over it. Does that really hold. I think mtribe did it.

First section of deck added. I rethought the deck after cutting it out of foam. My intersections were not where the bulkheads are. So I started again from the back and made sure they all lined up.

I had to make the middle section in three pieces. It would not fit between the cup holder area.

RedGard. This is an extra waterproofing protection. I would not recommend doing this at all, as it is overkill.

The darker areas are where is it is dry.

Well after much deliberation, I decided to use gelcoat for the ski locker, and the deck. I did a test sample of enamel with hardener, and gel coat. To be fair, I baked the enamel at a friends paint shop. I liked the way the gel coat looked when dry. Both were very hard, but the enamel chipped, and the gel did not.

Here is what I learned after coating the ski locker and the tank area this evening.

1. Put two coats of the non wax stuff down, and then one coat of waxed. I did one of each.
2. Do not go over it again with your roller, as it takes off what you just put down.

I have decided to go ahead with just one layer of 1708 for the tabbing and then two layers of CSM for the finish layer on the deck.

Well the foam is DONE!!!!!! Whooohooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I finished it up this morning, and it really was not as bad as I thought it would be. It is very messy, but if you get a plan going, you will be good to go. I am now working on the gas tank enclosure and I found floor mats made from recycled tires that will work perfect. I will just cut them into strips and glue them in.

Aero Marine Foam. This stuff is so easy to work with.

I used 2" pour and relief holes to guide the foam where I wanted it to go. Major learning curve. I had it down pat right when I finished.

My daughter called these mushrooms. It is where the foam came through the holes.

What a mess. You will go through a TON of supplies because the foam sticks to everything.

I glassed the plugs back in today, and found a great way to support the gas tank. Just get a floor matt made from recycled tires and cut it into strips. DONE!

Well after everything not going to planned this weekend, I actually hit my goal. I am ready for Gel Coat and final assembly. I had to stop pushing everything this weekend and just let it happen. I kept thinking about July 4th and it was really messing with my mind. I had to forget about it, and accept the fact that I might not make it, and that is ok.

I still need to build the engine mounts, battery tray, trim pump tray, and bilge pump tray, but those will be easy. We will do that as we mock the engine in next weekend. I have to make sure we have clearance for the corsa side exhaust.

Anyway here is a BUNCH of pictures and video.

I used a BUNCH of CSM during the deck covering.

Test fitting the Seat for the placement of the seat bases

I decided to build seat bases to keep the Chairs off the deck. These are two 3/4" pieces of ply glued together with Peanut butter.

I sanded under the mount before application. Then I added a little weight.

Once it dried I sanded all around it and laid down one layer of 1708 and one layer of CSM to finish it off

Yes there is supposed to be a gap at the top. there is a filler panel that goes over it.

I finally got around to drilling the transom holes and test fitting the gimbal assembly. I found this really cool jig at HD that holds the drill straight for 30 bucks. She fits on their nice and everything bolted up. I did have to add 4 layers of 1708 to the top of the transom to make everything even. I was just over 1/4 inch off between the top and the bottom. You can only have 1/8" at the most. Mine is perfect all the way around at 2 1/8".

I have decided to go ahead and rebuild the gimbal assembly. Once I started looking at it, I realized I cannot cut corners now. What caught my eye was the oil line for the outdrive. It was cracked so bad in places, that you could see the braid. Then I looked closer, and it needs a new steering pin, and paint because of corrosion. I talked with Ron at JR marine and I am buying his Bravo rebuild kit with new bushings and Stainless steering pin. So today I got out the hingepin tool and started taking it apart.

Now I just need to rent the hoist this weekend to test fit the engine, and then I can build the mounts.

Gave the Out Drive a good sanding with a green scotch brite pad and used a air grinder on the corrosion.

A little etch primer

This is what I used for the paint. You add it to your Enamel paint to make it dry faster and harder and you get it from Tractor supply.

I shot it through this once I thinned it out with Naptha.

Here is the little jig I bought to drill the holes straight.

Perfect. This is a test fit of the gimbal to make sure everything fits. I will be taking it off again to paint and seal the holes.

Measuring for clearance of the new exhaust. I have decided to use a Corsa Captains call exhaust. I know it is not practical, but I don't care.

Just starting to disassemble the housing.

I took the trim rams apart and there is too much corrosion on them. I ordered a new set from SEI. $265.00 shipped.
