Good afternoon everyone. I'm a new boat owner, and my story goes like this . Only being on a boat a hand full of times I'v always wanted one. I told my wife for a couple years I wanted a small john boat to do a little fishing. As I started to get more serious she reminded me that we have three kids and they wont all be able to go at the same time. And that i should wait until I could get a boat that we could all fit on. So i had stopped to talk with a guy that I know . And said that he was tired of this boat sitting in his yard, and he was ready to put a sign on it for free.I said let me take a look at it. So we did , and it was obvious why. Oh my is it in bad shape. So he started telling me about it and the history, And all the things it needed . Trust me its a very long list. So I did what most people wouldn't do . I told him if it's free ill take it.Well I didn't even get backed into the driveway before my wife was in the front yard. I guess I should have talked to her first. But the conversation ended fast, when i reminded her that she told me to wait and get a boat that the whole family could fit on . For once I listened to her and she got mad at me. I'm working on getting pictures posted . I have mechanical skills, Absolutely no computer skills.

I think you need to consider learning how to do some upholstery work:eek: Have you given any thought to what your budget is going to be? My Guess-ti-Mate is approx. $2,500 IF the motor is in good working condition. If not, it could easily be double that. But... a NEW boat of this quality would be about $30,000 so you're still WAY ahead of the game. LOTS of Dirty, ITCHY work ahead, but we'll be here to answer any questions for ya!!!!;)

Yes I'm definitely going to learn how to do upholstery work.Maybe a fabric store has classes. Budget $5,000 realistically $6,000 and done by next summer. Floor $ 2,250 with carpet. Upholstery $ 1,000
The motor is iffy. But $ 2,000 there. Odds and ends $ 750.00 What do you think???

So the front of my boat is one piece. And underneath the center section I need to replace the stringers and the plywood. I don't know if I can fiberglass the stringers and the plywood without cutting this section out . It would seem to me that it was done like this for a reason. Or maybe it was the easiest way to build the shell? Is it structural??? I really don't think cutting it out would be a good idea. I saw pictures a year ago where someone cut it out. Does anyone have any input or ideas???

Looks like your are moving along nicely. Take lots of pictures and measurements before you rip out stringers and bulkheads.
