cc - Looks like a great project.

In your other thread you stated you would be using treated plywood for the seats. Wolmanized and other treated lumber is not a good product in aluminum boats. It will corrode the aluminum.

Exterior ply and marine ply are your best bets

Well whoops... already have the treated plywood cut and stained..... can i put a rubber coating were the wood touches the aluminum ?

I had a freind that had allready cut out his decks, I told that I had saw on here that it was bad for aluminum, so he let it dry really good in his garrage, the he put about 4 coats of good oil based paint on it, will it be ok ? I honestly don't know but I think he maybe fine

IMHO, Over time the chemicals will eventually leach out, no matter what.

The issue with treated wood is they use copper chromate or like chemical. The copper if it leaches from the wood will cause a reaction with the aluminum due to dis-similar metals.

The real info is here. http://www.oaa.on.ca/professional+r...tects+&+practices/pressure+treated+wood+alert

If it was fully enclosed in epoxy resin I might think about putting it in a boat, but after thinking about it I wouldn't. But that is me.

Hot dipped galvanized fasteners would also have to be used during assembly

I've heard that rubber will also corrode aluminum, but neoprene is fine to use. Not sure what comes in the can though, I guess some kinda synthetic stuff and not real rubber, but who knows.

+1 on this. That is why I posted

How long do you plan on keeping your boat?

Are you willing to sell a boat that may/will be subject to issues?

:/ good point, I know I talked to my wife and she said in a few years after the pickup is paid off going and getting a "nice" boat.... her definition of nice is anything brand new lol..... right now I'm only $800 into this project... I'll have to do some research on "marine grade plywood" and see where I can buy some ..... my small town dosn't have any....

You can use exterior grade or Arauco plywood. The big box stores will carry it at half the cost of marine. Both use water resistant glue like marine ply The Arauco has been used by many here on iboats.

went ahead and redid the seats in just normal plywood, still waiting for parts for motor,... i ordered them 2/23/15, ... should be here tomorrow i hope!

Installed the rear seat and got the fuel tank all ready to go.

Built a "transducer mount" for the side of my boat, to save some money I'm going to use my Ice fishing transducer that came with my Lowrance 4xHDI that I used this year for ice fishing so we will see how that works.
