I am restoring my 1990 Chris Craft 167 Concept. It was not supposed to be a restoration but last year after I purchased it, I stepped through the floor near the ski locker. once I pulled the carpet up I found a lot of hidden water damage and rot. I ended up replacing the floor, carpet, engine hatch and shocks, painting engine hatch and stripping, wet sanded and waxed entire boat. I still have to put in the new interior but I am worried that I am now buried in the boat. I paid 5k for the boat and a 2014 EZ loader trailer. I have put another 5k in the boat for repairs... have I screwed myself?

EricJentz, please don't that this as a gloom and doom response. Usually when any floor is rotted in any glass boat, the floor, stringers and transom, and in your case, even the engine motor mounts are toast as well. I can't say for certain and equally don't know what you paid for in the repairing of the floor. Maybe the repairer replaced the stringers and the engine mounts as well. I don't know. But I would seriously check the transom closely if it wasn't checked out previously. And the best place to inspect the transom in close to the bottom of it. Wood rot usually starts low and works itself up. So you could drill some inspection holes towards the bottom of the transom and if wet rotted wood (mush) comes out, the transom is gone as well. If dry normal wood shavings comes out, your okay...

Did you do the repairs or pay to have them done? I agree with gm280 about the need to ensure the substructure was sound. If you paid for the repairs and they put a deck over rotting stringers, motor mounts and transom...Well that's another Kettle of Fish!!!

Could you provide a Costs breakdown for what all has been done? Consider this...A boat like yours in todays dollars would be about $20K. If she's structurally and Mechanically sound then you're WAY ahead of the game. She should last a Long time now if you care for and maintain her well. CK boats are GOOD BOATS!!! If you like her looks then I think you're fine.
