Quick Fix for black rubber rub rail?

I've read where my old rub rail that is in good shape just dull could be shined up with acetone and lots of elbow grease to remove the oxidation down to the good. Is there some easier product, spray, rub on, wipe off that may do it? Tire treatment? I can buy a can of something but don't have the elbow grease for the acetone rub down.

It's actually vinyl not rubber. I would try using 303 Areospace products after cleaning to protect it from future sun damage.
