2 layers of 1708 and resin should only yield about 1/16" thickness. Your gel coat should be about the same. I'd but down 2 layers.;)

Ok. If it ends up too thick I'll sand down the exterior, don't really need that layer I put on structurally but I needed it to build up the keyhole area Where I got a little chisel happy.

Kinda ticked at the weatherman, could have glassed yesterday but they kept calling for rain....never came.

The first layer of skin didn't go too well, hadn't done a sheet that big before. Ended up with a few wrinkles I had to relief cut and gunk up my scissors. Still had some bubbles in it when the resin started, so I'll be out there with the Dremel tomorrow knocking stuff doWn. Can't do anything about the air pockets (all at the corner radii where the transom meets the hull) so I'll just apply lessons learned and move on. Gonna relief cut this next sheet and wet the back side really good before I put it up.

Thanks fngboater. Sorry if I don't respond, the notification via email has never worked for me, nor have the pictures very consitently.

Transom done and the keyhole is recut. The stringers are pl'd in and I'm ready to cut them to deck height. Problem though. I know boats aren't perfectly symetrical, especially since I'm measuring to the strakes that I filled, but my deck height seems really screwy between the sides.

Here are the measurements, from the top of the stringer to the outer deck edge. Starting 8 feet from the transom and moving towards it.

Just looking for some experience if anyone had something similar.
