Hello all...

I have shot gelcoat many times using standard sprayers without issues. Being I wanted more material on the boat I went to this cup gun.

I shot the deck hatches for a test before I shot the topside...This is a WHOLE different animal than I'm used to!

G100 Gun
#6 Tip
Gelcoat (not thinned)
With wax
80-100 PSI

For the most part once I figured out that if pointed down it spills the GC out of the tip, it was not too bad.

1. The initial shot out of the gun "spits" some times rather than just spray. Is that right?
2. I used way more material than expected. What dictates the flow? The tip or the adjustment?
3. Flow Control knob. It is not like my gravity feed where I have material adjustment and air. Is farther out more material out of the gun or does it change the spray pattern?
4. Has anyone shot the first coat with a cup gun and the final with an automotive sprayer for a smoother final finish?

I'm glad I did the practice on the deck panels and not the sides. Any tips on how to use this gun would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Johnny
