I'm currently working on removing the old mostly rotten floor and the foam and I've run into two questions so far. On either side of the transom their is a large glassed box.

Are these just supports for the cap or do they have some other purpose? Do I cut them out so I can access the floor under them? And if so how do I put them back?

My second question is their is a channel formed in the fiberglass along either side of the deck.

Do I grind the fiberglass all the way back to the hull and then reform the channel with PB?

I'm sure I'll have a lot more questions as I get further into it, but that's it for now.

Re: 89 Cajun Rebuild

Welcome to iboats!

The "boxes" are actually foam filled for flotation (in the event of sinking) of the hull.

That "channel is the strake on the outside of the hull...... no need to grind or fill in there ;)
